Academics

Primary

The first eight years of life are instrumental in setting children on a path to success or conversely, in allowing achievement gaps to widen, forcing students to play a continuous game of catch up over later years. We believe that the primary school years are critical to ensuring that children develop a solid foundation in literacy, math, social-emotional skills, as well as strong engagement in learning.

Middle School

The middle school years are a time to solidify a foundation of strong skills in academic subjects while promoting confidence and self exploration of strengths, interests, social relationships, and personal values.

Students

Many of our students come to our school after prior experiences in traditional learning environments that did not prove to meet their learning needs. Our program accepts students who are struggling in other learning environments because their reading, writing, and organizational skills do not reflect their cognitive potential.

Approaches

Tampa Pinnacle Academy administration, parents, and faculty share the belief that a student who learns differently needs more than the general accommodations that are provided in traditional schools.  Students who struggle with learning because of ADHD, dyslexia, or other language-based learning differences truly blossom when they are provided with small classes, special attention, goal-driven planning, and an individualized approach to learning.

Study Skills

Executive functions are taught in the elementary years and focus on the development of strategies to help the student with organization, planning, prioritizing, time management, and strong study skills. Research indicates that executive function skills are more important for school readiness than IQ or entry-level reading and math skills.

Assessment

The results of assessment allow for students to be placed in appropriate classes to provide curriculum that is remedial, grade-level, advanced or a combination. Flexible and individualized classroom placement allows for students to experience an education that supports the needs of diverse learners and students who have been identified as “twice exceptional”.
